The purpose of electroplating is to coat a metal coating on the CNC prototype to change the surface properties or size . Electroplating can enhance the corrosion resistance of the metal prototype(the coating metal is mostly made of corrosion-resistant metal), increase hardness, prevent wear, improve electrical conductivity, Lubricity, heat resistance, and increase surface beauty.
Although both plastic and metal prototypes can use electroplating technology, but because their characteristics are not the same,so there are still differences in electroplating. The plastic prototype has a strong adsorption force and can be directly electroplated on the surface of the prototype. but If the metal prototype is directly plated, it will easily fall off. Therefore, the metal prototype needs to be sprayed with a layer of primer before electroplating, so that the effect of electroplating will be very good and the anti-corrosion time will be longer.
 In addition, there are different functions according to various electroplating needs. Examples are as follows:

Copper Plating
Used as a primer to improve the adhesion and corrosion resistance of the electroplating layer. (Copper is easy to oxidize. After oxidation, the verdigris is no longer conductive, so copper-plated prototypes must be protected )

Nickel Plating

Used as a primer or as an appearance to improve corrosion resistance and wear resistance (among which chemical nickel is the modern process with more wear resistance than chrome plating). (Note that many electronic products, such as DIN heads and N heads, no longer use nickel as the base, mainly because nickel is magnetic, which will affect the passive intermodulation in the electrical performance)
Gold Plating
Improve conductive contact resistance and improve signal transmission. (Gold is the most stable but most expensive.)
Palladium-Nickel Plating
Improves conductive contact resistance, improves signal transmission, and has higher wear resistance than gold.

Tin And Lead Plating

Improve the welding ability, and will be replaced by other substitutes soon (because most of the lead is now plated with bright tin and matte tin).
Silver Plating
Improve conductive contact resistance and enhance signal transmission. (Silver has the best performance, easy to oxidize, and also conducts electricity after oxidation)
